01. Overview

The ZVN DEV Client Portal was designed as a client-facing web application that provides real-time visibility into website and eCommerce performance. Built as an internal tool and later refined for client use, the portal gives each client a personalized, secure dashboard to monitor key activity across their project. The application supports light and dark mode, role-based access, and secure authentication, with separate views for clients and internal teams including development, design, and management. The goal was to create a clear, accessible experience that delivers meaningful insights without overwhelming users.

02. Problem

As our client base grew, we found ourselves spending an increasing amount of time responding to repetitive questions, compiling manual reports, and bridging communication gaps around ongoing website activity. With over 50 active clients, keeping everyone informed through email alone became inefficient and unsustainable. Clients wanted clarity around site performance, search visibility, customer reviews, submissions, and analytics, while our internal team needed a faster way to surface this information without context switching between tools. We needed a centralized hub that kept clients informed while reducing operational overhead.

03. Design Process

The design process began by identifying the most frequently requested metrics across client projects, including site performance, search statistics, customer reviews, form submissions, and general analytics. These insights informed the structure of a unified dashboard that brings navigation, analytics, customers, forms, QR codes, and API key management into one cohesive experience. Using the shadcn/ui design system, I focused on building a clean, accessible interface with clear navigation for non-technical users. Accessibility, readability, and responsiveness were prioritized throughout, while admin workflows were designed to allow internal teams to quickly switch between client accounts and address issues in real time.

04. Solution & Results

The ZVN DEV Client Portal now serves as a central source of truth for both clients and internal teams. Clients gain a transparent view into their website or store, allowing them to feel more involved and confident in the work being done on their behalf. Internal teams benefit from reduced reporting overhead, faster issue resolution, and improved communication across projects. By consolidating analytics, submissions, reviews, and performance data into a single platform, the portal has strengthened client trust while significantly streamlining day-to-day operations.
